Privacy policy

This page explains what information this site collects today, what will change once we turn on analytics and advertising, and how to reach us with questions. Last updated August 30, 2026.

What we collect right now

At the time of writing, this site does not run any analytics software and does not display ads. The only data generated by a visit is the standard server log our hosting provider keeps for any website: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. That log exists for security and to keep the site running, not to build a profile of you, and we don't sell or share it.

There is one exception: pages with an interactive map. The map images (called tiles) come from a third-party map provider, credited in the small attribution line in the corner of the map itself. When the map loads, your browser requests those tiles directly from that provider, so it can see your IP address and which area of the map you're viewing. We don't receive or store any of that data. The map only loads after you scroll down to it, so if you leave a page before reaching the map, no request to the map provider is made at all.

What changes once ads and analytics go live

This site is built to run on display advertising, starting with Google AdSense, and we plan to add basic analytics (most likely Google Analytics) to see which pages are useful and which aren't. Neither is active yet. Once either one is turned on:

  • Google and its advertising partners may set cookies on your browser to serve ads, including ads based on your visits to this and other sites.
  • Analytics software may set cookies to measure how many people visit a page, roughly where they're located (at a city or region level, not a precise address), and what device or browser they used.
  • We won't collect names, email addresses or payment information through the site itself unless you send one to us directly, for example by email.

We'll update this page, and the date at the top, on the day either of these goes live, with specifics about what's collected.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; doing so may affect how ads or analytics behave but won't break the site itself. Once ad personalization is active, you can opt out of it through Google's Ads Settings or through the industry-wide opt-out at optout.aboutads.info. Browsers never settled on a single "Do Not Track" standard, so this site doesn't respond to that signal.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone in that age group.

State privacy laws

Some US states give residents rights over personal information collected for advertising, including the right to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing." Because this site currently collects no personal information beyond a standard server log, most of those rights don't yet apply in practice. Once advertising is active, the opt-out link above covers ad-related choices; for anything else, use the contact option below.
