Watson Falls: trail and access
Watson Falls drops 272 feet, making it one of the tallest waterfalls in southern Oregon, a short 0.4-mile walk from a free trailhead just off Highway 138 near Glide. It sits close enough to Toketee Falls to pair the two in one stop, and no fee or permit is required at the trailhead. It's the quieter half of an easy Umpqua double-stop in our waterfalls in Oregon guide.

Trail and access
Watson Falls sits just off Highway 138 near Glide, on the same stretch of the Umpqua corridor as Toketee Falls, close enough to visit both waterfalls in one outing. From the free trailhead, the 0.4-mile trail climbs steadily, gaining about 300 feet as it works up to a wooden footbridge over Watson Creek and a viewpoint partway up the falls (USFS, Watson Falls Trail). The grade is the only real effort involved; the path itself is short and well maintained, manageable for most visitors, including families with kids. No fee or Forest Service pass is required at this trailhead.
The falls
Water drops 272 feet down a steep, narrow cliff of basalt lava, one of the tallest single-plume waterfalls in southern Oregon and a striking contrast to the wider, tiered falls elsewhere in the Umpqua corridor. The narrow drop means Watson reads as a long, thin plume of water rather than a broad curtain, especially striking after rain or snowmelt when flow peaks, and the footbridge over Watson Creek puts you in the lower rapids with the full height of the falls stacked ahead. A short spur near the base gets close enough for a strong photo without any real scrambling.
